I honestly have to say that the NW is the most beautiful part of the US. I have lived on the east coast my entire life, but I really hope that we get stationed at Lewis.... I would love living here!!!

I was a lifelong easterner too. We moved to WA for the same reason as you. At first we were a little unhappy (especially after the 90 straight days of rain our first winter . . .) but it really grew on us and we were very sad to leave in the end. It is a beautiful region (especially in the summer -- mountans on one side, ocean on the other . . .). Seattle is a great city, (as is Vancouver Canada -- definitely go there). Tacoma, for all the bad press it gets on this site, we thought was actually quite nice (minus a couple clearly "bad" areas). Drawbacks were traffic, traffic, traffic and nowadays the cost of housing . . . we were able to afford a nice little rambler when we moved there, but as soon as we left, real estate skyrocketed and our tiny house probably costs 3x what we paid for it, which is insane.

Enjoy your time there . . . there are not many nicer places that Uncle Sam can send you nowadays . . . Maybe San Diego if you're Navy, but otherwise the NW is tops!

The Pacific NW is the most gorgeous scenery in the United States. Unfortunately, most of the cities up here don't have a real good quality of life -- unless you're rich.

People are moving here for a reason. I am single and I DO NOT have a six figure salary. I am far from six figures and my quality of life is great. You don't have to be rich to have a good quality of life in Seattle.

I would put "alot" of stock in what pwright1 has to say. After all he took 75-80% of the pics you see in this room. Seattle/Washington

Depends on if you have kids

I do - and it's hard having children and raising them here especially if you want to own a home

If I was single again and had no kids I would be living high on the hog here. Just a difference of lifestyles I guess.

I love this thread and visit it often.
After living here for over 8 years, this makes me want to get more into photography. I have always enjoyed road trips, but have always hesitated to stop at scenic sites and take a picture- not now!
Thank You all for such great photos!!

Thanks for giving me the heads up Jessa.

I must have completely missed this thread before I left and after I got back from WA.

BEAUTIFUL place and it is so cool to be able to look at some fabulous pics of some the places I got to enjoy.
