Brought to you by the Department of Revenue. Great website, well worth exploring.

https://dor.wa.gov/about/statistics-...shington-taxes

What happened in the 1980's??? Oh yeah, the Democrats took over state government.

Great learning site. Thanks to the Department of Revenue for putting it up.

But...

Those taxes are NOT enough. (How many here pay them?)

Fill me up! (WA taxes)

There are more than a few ways to skin this cat and to collect YOUR money. Sorry to inform you... it's not YOURS... Your Money, Your home, Your business, Your job / career, and now... Your Family. (New legislation to provide state encouragement and support to disrupt families)

You are NOT your own.
Not in WA State.

But... you make a great Pawn
Thanks for your 'availability'

Sustainability in retirement has seen more than a few neighbors leave the State…

Washington is not inexpensive and lad use restrictions keep piling on…

Friends planned to build their retirement on properly zoned and vetted land… basically no longer possible…

I still think WA makes sense for high income earners with no personal income tax but this only comes into play with income and too many retired just are not making it but make over there deferral threshold for property tax…

Buckle up.

It’s going to get a whole lot worse. Look 600 miles south to California for what’s next.

It does seem Oregon, Washington and California tend to be more alike than different.

Maybe it's a West Coast thinking kind of thing?

The changes I seen in Washington over the 20 years are far reaching...

It's actually a Pact between the states. Several of our OR and WA initiatives / measures have had the clause... If the other 2 states adopt a similar policy, the outlier will follow (by default, even if NOT approved by voters - I.E. CARB came to WA that way, because WA voters would not approve it, but OR did, so WA joined by default). Similar with assisted suicide. WA kept voting it down, then the next WA campaign was financed by 99% outside money. WA vote was 'influenced'. Basically, follow the leader, even if the leader is heading over the cliff. Similar actions have landed a lot of countries into crisis / war that they didn't agree or start. But they had to finish, even if wrong.

So we go... down the drain... swoosh. Eventually, we'll be no more. (By our own doing).
It happens over and over in history.

Remind me which vote today is not ‘influenced’? Glad WA has Death with Dignity laws. Not everyone wants to be subject to how the ayatollahs think - we are in our current state.

Nothing is ever static; there is always movement. Whether it is down the drain or just another place seems very much like a subjective value judgment.

all uninformed voters are 'influenced'. The USA is full of followers.

Yes, everything is in a state of change, some for the better, some for the worse.

Yes, your individual vote is a 'Value' judgement, as per the thread.
History of Tax Increases in Washington State..

Your value / money feeding the politicians Values (Themselves and the system they prop up).

My current WA tax obligation is over 30% of my highest ever salary and over 30% of my current annual spend, up from under 5% of my gross income at the time I arrived over 40 yrs ago. That's of value to those sticking it in their own pockets or feeding their pet pork barrels.

It's all easily influenced by those who choose to vote 'un-informed', and instead, be 'influenced'. (The majority are NOT job creators, that's easy to see). They are Me-Too?
! (follow the 'piped-piper' voters)

It's the popular thing to do, and works terrific on the left coast. (Home of the 'Hollywood' politician and the 'box-office' voter.

Just to be clear, I don't give a dime to any politician / political party. And, I was just responding to your post.

WA is a no-income tax, but with a capital gains tax due to what has to be a politically influenced and contrived Supreme Court ruling. Regardless, the state has to collect taxes somewhere. And, those will affect different people differently - with some winners and some losers. Just as there are in other states and tax regimes. And, those who don't fare well don't typically like it - on the left coast, right coast and everywhere in between. They chaff when the money is spent on causes that are not to their liking. We do with the boondoggles the corrupt legislature in our crimson red and religiously-dominated state comes up with. You do about yours - and I am sure some with very good reasons.

It is not the left coast or the right coast - but the single party domination that causes the overreach. Nothing is perfect but the purple states where there is a real possibility of getting kicked out for of power for doing a poor job is what keeps the adventurism in check. The problem is that there aren't too many purple states...
