A low income trailer park on Hwy 101 & DelGuzzi was torn down. In its place will be MOD Pizza & Starbucks. Not a doctor or dentist office or a competitively priced, non-club grocery store like Aldi or Winco, not a Lowe's to compete with the crappy Home Depot, or a Target to compete with the crappy Walmart "Supercenter".

BTW, there was a Starbucks in PA before, which closed in 2009. Try, try again! Everyone need a $15 super big mocha frappe latte!

Is the Saars Super Saver store still there? Swans? We haven't been up in a while. The Saars in Renton closed up a few months ago.

That's the curse of WA rural areas.

No, that closed awhile back. Their prices were high. A Tractor Supply is going into that building. There is a Coast store in Sequim & good old, reliable Swain's, plus mom and pop outdoor & livestock care stores, so I don't see the need.

Funny that Saars prices were high there, the one in Renton had great prices compared to the other stores in this area. Swain's is great, and I also bought things at the Co-Op in Sequim when my Mom was a member. Tractor Supply does seem like a bit of overkill.

Sequim has everything and a few things PA doesn't. PT has almost nothing by design and if the need raises Silverdale or Sequim is a short distance away but if that is what PT wants, so be it.

I rarely hear anyone in Sequim complain about Walmart and/or Home Depot. I find the prices at the Co-op to be rather high but each his own.

I heard that Office Depot is closing but don't know the reason. Sears in Carlsborg is closing as did Penny's which I will miss the most. I think Penny's closed because of a national thing as did Sears and not from local big box stores competition.
Many people on the Peninsula come to shop in Sequim because of the draw of Costco and shop at other places as long as they are here.
What Sequim really needs are national brand restaurants to help attract more out of area customers.

When in the area we love the Dockside Grill at the John Wayne Marina. Other than that, there is only Applebee's and the Brown Bear, Highway 101 Diner and a few small cafes downtown. It seems like the nearest big national chains are all in Silverdale, and that's a bit far for a date night meal at about an hour each way.

Agree...also there are restaurant at both the Dungeness golf course and Jamestown casino. Both are good and not much further than Dockside from Sequim.
I think the last national brand restaurant in town, besides Applebee's/Black bear, was the Pancake House which closed a few years ago.

I like the Co-op and Swains.
Their items are usually a “cut above” in quality than most other local locations.
I too find them rather high priced but they aren’t lacking in the quality department.
The Co-op has a really nice small car metal sculpture I liked.
Sadly I don’t have $999. for a garden ornament.

We don’t eat out much but we do take house guests to the local restaurants.
The Dockside Grill has never disappointed me.
The golf course restaurant is really good.
The new fish and chips place is a nice new addition.
Overall the restaurant scene here for this size of an area is just fine.

I don’t really about a new Starbucks or a Pizza joint but if they fill empty buildings, give service and jobs I’m in.

I sure would like to have a Kaiser Hospital here or at least more options in that regard.
