But it is still 72 miles from Issaquah to Mount Vernon and the distance from Vancouver to Mount Vernon is 80 miles. So as you can see Mount Vernon is about the half way point.

I wouldn't want to make this commute in any In any event, even for love.
Unfortunately I-5 isn't wide open any more going north from Everett. There's been so much development in Arlington/Marysville/Stanwood areas and many people commute south to Everett or Seattle so the traffic is heavy.

Traffic from Mt. Vernon north wouldn't be too bad, though that has increased in recent years, especially around nice summer weekends. And of course tulip time.

I haven't lived in the Seattle area for over 21 years and you just pointed out why.

I seldom venture over there....Traffic. When I do have a reason to go I park on this side and use the ferry walk on which is free going and cheap coming back and than a cab or in the case of going to pro-game I walk or ride the peddle cabs.

I’m sure WSDOT has future plans to widen I-5 north of Marysville to the Canadian border. But that could be years away so doesn’t help you now. Since it is only two days a week I would suggest closer to Issaquah. Check Monroe, Sammamish, Marysville, even Arlington.

Historic North Everett neighborhood, west of Colby Ave, N. Of 19th St. Nice value for money. Go up there, look around. Walk over the pedestrian bridge at Grand Ave Park to the Marina. You wouldn’t be the first to fall in love with it.
