Seattle weather is not typical of most of the country. Rarely extremely cold, rarely extremely hot. But with this comes frequent changes. In the summer you could come close to 100 but likely will cool back down within a couple of days. Same with winter. You can get a couple of below freezing days but moderating quickly. Yes, there have been weird exceptions but not the norm. You can thank Puget Sound for this moderate climate.

hot in summer because it rarely is warm 80 plus other than during few months occasionally
