They’re already predicting another smoky summer...and if trends continue, it’ll be even worse.

I don’t know about everyone else here, but I live for the summers and especially late fall when the best hiking trails open up. I’m going to be at my wits end if I spend another month to two gagging on smoke this summer. After enduring 7 months of grey and rain, I expect a payoff.

I’m wondering how many feel like I do…

Starting to think about going back to... Texas.

I thought climate change would turn it into a hot, dry mess, but apparently that's us. Who knew?

Never in my 23 years there had there been so much rain in the (TX) summers. I'm sure it's balmy as Florida with all the moisture, but it seems to be bringing the temps down some. I do love thunderstorms in the wide open Texas sky.

I'm not a fan of summer here or there or anywhere. I do not like summer. I love our PNW falls and winter. More than Texas. At least for now.

My wife has asthma and when the fires fill the I-5 corridor with smoke, she has to stay inside. This spring also had very high pollen counts for extended periods of time. This also kept her indoors more. It’s getting to the point where she only likes spending time outdoors in the rainy season, which is a bit of a downer for all of us.

We’re looking at emigrating from Washington.

Alas, I'm a west coast girl. I dry up and blow away if I'm too far from the Pacific for too long.

"What's gonna happen
will happen to me..."

The burning is breaking my heart, but leaving permanently is not an option.

Yes; the smoky summers are making me think twice about moving back to the PNW altogether.

We literally just left yesterday and that was certainly one of the big reasons. Don’t understand why people like summer in the area. Hot, smoky, and the hiking trailheads and other escapes are so packed there’s no parking.

We moved to the PNW in the first place for the lovely overcast misty days, certainly not summer.

You just left? What state did you move? How long were you here?

This is the new normal. Never was like this before. Yes, we had forest fires here and there most summers, but never anything like this. And of course, the crowds are a new phenomenon. It just breaks my heart.

Agreed, I like the cool, misty days, especially after extreme Phoenix sun and heat, but spouse hates the rain, and we’re both disappointed in the beautiful summers up here changing into hot and smoky. Seeing the grass burn up and having to constantly water everything is a pain. The next location will have summer rain as it should.
