Here are the 33 new state taxes being proposed by Inslee and the Democrats. I couldn't find a list anywhere that I can list here, but the Wenatchee World had a article with the complete list. It appears almost all will pass in the current session.

It appears that the voter pamphlet next time will just be a listing of new taxes!!!

https://www.wenatcheeworld.com/news/...373d6e9d7.html

The complete list is at the end of the article.

* Driver-record abstract fee of $13 increases to $14, raises $83 million.
* Background-check fee, now $15 to check whether cars moved here from other states are stolen, increases to $25, raises $77 million.
* A $10 weight-fee increase for cars and pickups July 1, 2021 instead of a year later, raises $70 million.
* A 50-cent car-tab surcharge to help fund new ferries increases to 75 cents, raises $68 million.
* Oversized truckload trip fee of $25 increases to $45, raises $62 million.
* Personal trailer license-tab fee of $15 increases to $20, raises $44 million.
* Title fees on car registrations or sales, increases $1 to a total $16, raises $38 million.
* Fee to change your driver's license picture, increased from $10 to $20, raises $34 million.
* Interest income while these fees sit in a savings account, $25 million.
* Motor home weight fees of $75 increases to $95 per year, raises $24 million.
* Extend license-tab processing fees of 75 cents to trucks, raises $22 million.

Your title is very misleading, there are very few new taxes listed, almost all of them are simply increases in existing taxes. I would expect most to pass, voters in our state (west of the mountains, anyway) tend to approve taxes as long as there is no income tax.

I actually like one of them: Pay-by-the-mile charges begin in 2025-2026 to replace existing $225 car-tab fee on electric and hybrid cars.

I don't care about going from $10-20 to change your driver license picture, they can go to $50, I would never care about my bad picture.

The bottom line it is MONEY I have to pay!!! Increases or new taxes are the same in impact on taxpayers.

It is a SIGNIFICANT tax increase when you add up the little bits and pieces, plus the two major ones of gas tax of 10 cents and carbon tax.

Somebody should do an analysis on the cost to the average person.

Mostly small increases that won't apply to everyone. We don't have an income tax and many states that also don't have an income tax have much larger property taxes to compensate.

Oh swell .
More taxes.
Just what we need.

That said I am cool with most user taxes.
Wanna smoke cigarettes?
That should cost you and not me.
Wanna spend more time on the road to make money a fair usage tax for that wouldn’t bother me.

Wanna be rude on properly taxes?
Well that is just wrong .

HALF...applied to me. Not good on a retirement income. Here is the cost of living increases for Social Security since Inslee became Governor.

2011 3.6%
2012 1.7%
2013 1.5%
2014 1.4%
2015 ZERO
2016 .3%
2017 2.0%
2018 2.8%
2019 1.3%

Here is state spending since Jay Inslee became Governor. Remember he ran on a platform of NOT INCREASING STATE TAXES.

What terrible event happened between 2012 and 2020 that Washington state spending increased by 72%??

Nope, I lived in Idaho. But we are not talking Idaho, though I miss living there.

People moving here statistics:

2020 7,656,200 1.45
2019 7,546,400 1.60
2018 7,427,570 1.60
2017 7,310,300 1.76
2016 7,183,700 1.73
2015 7,061,410 1.34
2014 6,968,170 1.25
2013 6,882,400 0.95
2012 6,817,770 0.74
2011 6,767,900 0.64

Last column is percent change in population. It looks like a 13% increase in population.

Does that growth rate account for a 72% increase in state spending?? Lots of those people were RICH, that do not need "government programs". So why the 72% increase??

BTW....Like most people in eastern Washington I don't mind paying taxes. Last time our five county library system proposed a rate increase it passed 86% voting in favor.

But I don't like wasting tax dollars. That is a "limited" economic resource that needs to be managed wisely.

And yes, my taxes were higher in Idaho, due to a medium population state and large size (its population is equal to that of eastern Washington, but much, much larger in size).

Just because Washington is a rich state, doesn't make it sound public policy to waste taxpayers dollars!!

Do we all really need to march in the same goose step here?
I poking fun at both sides with that statement so please just consider it cheap humor .

How about we embrace our differences , act like a nice diverse community and if we have to...just agree to disagree ?

I kinda dig that where I am at we don’t quibble over politics.
It’s a very smallish community.
There are probably lots of different views and we all just get along

Believe it or not....
Not one person has ever told me to my face that Idaho or California might be better suited for me.
That just sounds rather rude to me.

I think all opinions matter and not should be silenced.

Can we at least agree that having diversity is a good thing?

All the best.
Andy
