Greetings...

I'm a single, active, retired senior lady. I currently live in Edmonds, WA and LOVE it! Problem is the homeowner is selling the house I live in and I cannot find affordable replacement here. I've been offered free room and board in exchange for preparing the evening meal for a gentleman who will share his home with me, but it's in Browns Point, (Tacoma area). (He's very nice.)

I have never been there or anywhere South of Edmonds (I'm new to WA) and wonder about the livability and if there is social life any where around there. Any kind of recreation, biking trails, etc.?

I don't have to do it....but I'd love investing the rent money!
Please provide me opinions on the livability there as I get mixed messages from folks about Tacoma.

Seems like an interesting proposition. Brown's Point is, in my opinion, one of the nicest areas to live in the Pacific Northwest. It's on the pricey side for Tacoma, but it has great beaches, trails, parks, and is situated in a micro climate that is ever so slightly warmer and gets more direct sunlight. You have access to all of Tacoma's amenities, 13 min drive to downtown, and Seattle is about a 30-45 min drive depending on traffic.
If your situation works out I think you'll find it a lovely place

Might be better off moving to Des Moines area south of Burien! Farmers Markets nice walking trails closer to Public Transport.

Also close to Dash Point State Park. Away from 99/I-5, both good (away from crime and gangs) and bad (away from direct transportation links to Seattle).

I'd say jump at it.

Thanks, everyone...I'm much enthused about relocating there even if I don't take the job!
I visited the parks and recreation departments and scouted around. It looks like a place for me. It's quite pretty with an upscale feel. Ans, like you say, close to whatever I need.
