Anyone live in Oak Harbor and can tell me their opinion of it?

You ask different people you will get different opinions, based on what they personally like.

It can be very isolating, with only a Wal Mart and a few other stores around for basic needs. Major shopping centers are further away, with the closest mall being in Burlington, and bigger malls in Everett/Bellingham. If you like to shop, probably not the place for you. Same goes for anything that goes with city life- a variety of nightlife, etc, this is not the place for it.

However, if you don't have to commute for work, or work from home, and don't mind jet noise, and watching bald eagles swirl over the bay, this might be right up your alley.

Depends what kind of person you are and how you like to live your life. Same goes for any city/location, everyone will give you their 2 cents based on what they want, or are used to- not necessarily the reality of how things are.

Lots of military personnel/retired there, who mostly shop at the commissary and exchange, which helps explain the dearth of stores, malls, and shopping centers.

Friends living at Coronet Bay near Oak Harbor love it there, but they are unhappy about the increase in jet noise, as are most Whidbey residents.
