If you were planning to move to Wa. to buy say...5-10 acres of land and you have your heart set on either Lewis,Pierce,Thurston or mason counties...which of the 4 are "easiest" to build on,strict regs..,etc..and which have the highest taxes?..thanks to all who reply

I would count out Thurston after watching 2 guys jump through hoops for over an hour in the permit office over a pole barn. Plus, land is getting expensive and hard to come by.

I'm no expert about those counties, but I think none of those counties are "easy" compared to some other counties in the state, such as in Eastern WA. I think all of these counties are very strict about wetland delineations, flood-plain maps, etc. before anything is issued. If I had to guess which one would be the least-strict, it would be Lewis county.

If there are any creeks shedding water where salmon might be, there will be a lot of red tape. That's pretty much anywhere west of the Cascades.
