I haven't read any of this thread. I'm just chiming in.

I think western and eastern WA need each other. When you get away from a few hot-button issues, we pretty much agree on most things.

What needs to happen is Cascadia. OR, WA, and most of BC if they want to join up. The eastern side needs our ocean access, while the western side needs the farming and such that happens out east. Perhaps each side of the Cascades could be a bit more autonomous, not unlike being two different states in the nation of Cascadia.
