I was surfing around on Craigslist and found some ads for job opening for Bikini Baristas. I find this odd. Not wrong or anything, just odd. Are there many bikini coffee shops? I would expect that here in Florida, but not up there. Hmmmm, maybe I should start a bikini coffee shop on South Beach.

Oh, yeah. In certain parts of the state they are a BIG deal. Traffic will be backed up in some places. Washington has some odd laws regarding things like that, so people (mostly dirty old men) will line up for the show. I've heard that the topless bars are so regulated that people just go to Oregon or Canada. But when I worked in Bremeton, we just figured on Thursdays to expect half the workers to be late....yet they hardly drank coffee on non-bikini days.

Yes... while they're not as plentiful as regular coffee shops, they're definitely around. Some even have puns as a part of their names (Sweet Cheeks... and others -- can't remember right now)

They definitely had to change some rules about how its done. Now they're suppose to have their windows facing traffic blocked because it was causing traffic. And its not necessarily regulation that's the problem. There was a major picketing at this one location in Bellevue (it has since then shut down)... of course understandable considering it was in a neighborhood setting and there were lots of kids around.

We have a couple here in Tri-Cities. One is called Burlesque Brew. Other than a few self-appointed morality cops, no one cares.

So funny. They are wearing bikinis though, right? I guess I'm so used to seeing mostly naked people on a daily basis that it is a bit of a curiosity to me. Seems like it would be pretty chilly to be bikini clad up there though.

Bikinis or lingerie.

It's a matter of survival, with 2-3 coffee places on every block here they have to do something to stand out.

There have been laws passed in several cities, busts for flashing for tips, and a lot of controversy over them but just thinking of those I have seen there are probably 20 or more in the area with bikini or "theme" baristas.
