Seattle traffic bottlenecks in downtown just by the nature of the city and highways. The people who talk about traffic being bad insist on driving to or through downtown. You can avoid that by getting an express bus or living on the same side of the city as where you work. Other than that, the traffic is only bad on the bridges and the east side.

I'd highly recommend that you both find jobs on either the south or north side of the city. Whoever has to commute through downtown is not going to be happy.

Have you ever driven in rush hour on 512, 167 or 405??? None of those go through downtown Seattle and are notorious for horrible traffic.

I made the mistake this afternoon of driving from DuPont (Ft Lewis) to the Tacoma Mall around 2:15. It took me 40 minutes to get to the mall
