I am moving to Oxnard in a few short weeks and couldn’t be more excited. I am transferring from Missouri to help launch the Amazon site there, and have found nothing but scams trying to find a place (pet friendly room or studio apartment). Is there any sites or groups on social media anyone can point me to that are not full of frauds trying to shake me down? Would really like to find a room for a bit to get on my feet out there. Thanks!

Start with a property management company like California Oaks. Get a short term rental, then make some local connections and find a better deal renting a room from coworkers or going in on a house share.

Welcome to the area. It's pretty awesome here, which is one of the reasons rents are crazy! Do you want tips on where to live in Oxnard (or Camarillo or Ventura)? Say what your priorities are (beach, hiking, nightlife, safety, boating, access to LA/freeway) and maybe someone can point you to the right neigbhorhoods.

Welcome to Ventura County. I rue the day when I moved away after being there for twenty years. Some of the best years of my life. You will enjoy being there. Perpetual springtime, albeit a little chilly in the wintertime, (at least right along the coast).

Padmapper.com I have found to be reliable. Specifics about areas, ask away. Lots of good help on this forum. Personally, been in the Ventura and Santa Barbara counties region for 35 years. Getting expensive, but it’s a great area with plenty of outdoor opportunities in a mild climate year round.

Oxnard has good mild weather but its sketchy , its a latin community which isn't bad. Oxnard is poorer than the rest of Ventura county even though its by the beach. Its main industry is agriculture people work in the fields. The closer to the beach the better and safer it gets. I was at in Oxnard a week ago at Walmart to pick up ice for a party and it seemed that a lot stuff was locked up for theft control. Not Good. I went to Oxnard College and Ventura College a few years ago and I heard from students that Oxnard wasn't safe and that there are gangs in Oxnard. Ventura or Port Hueneme is right next store to Oxnard its safer and its right on the beach though it has sketchy areas too but overall its safer. My take on it.
