SoCalMomma, I'm sorry to hear about your friends' house!

I hope that they get this one under control quickly.

Very very scary and so terrible. I live in Santa Monica near the ocean and a smoke smell in my apt woke me about 6AM. Thought there was something going bad in my apt...winds blowing it all down the coast.

Vista Del Mar hospital was a total loss. Four of our Doctors lost their homes on the hill. I came into work early, at CMH where I work we were covered in smoke. The entire hospital still smells like the fire from outside. Our HVAC system uses 100% outside air. We had to shut down the air handlers so we would not get any smoke into the building. The fire was less than a mile from the hospital.

Ojai is nearly an island. Off and on today both the 33 and the 150 were closed so getting in and out was not happening. Currently in the Ojai area people are being asked to go to Nordhoff High School. Stores are closed and many are showing up at the high school without food or water. A friend that is there asked me to help find food. Farmers Insurance is paying for food for 200 people and the problem is no grocers or food places are open in the Ojai area. We can't get food in.

Amazing how these fires start at night in high wind. Out of nowhere.

Sad to hear and see so many misplaced and destroyed lives. I hope everyone gets out ok. Very sad to see more people losing houses and businesses. I came in to work today and the smoke is bad.

Saw they are transporting the Vista Del Mar pts. all the way down to L.A. hospitals, at least the adolescents, as it was the only adolescent psych in the county. Too bad about Vista, it was so midcentury classic architecture and on such a nice hilltop spot with a great view.
In T.O. we are getting smoke from Santa Clarita! But 50% of the sky is blue. Smells smoky, though.

My hubby knows someone who lost his house, and so did his son and his wife, and his inlaws. Apparently they all lived near each other. All their homes are gone. Completely destroyed. The pictures on FB were devastating. . Awful.

My daughter in Oxnard just let me know that they are on evacuation stand by because the fire is closer. Yesterday watching the news was scary enough since I'm states away, but it was still safe in her area. But, her son's apartment where she plans to evacuate to, is out of the area of fires, so at least they will be with family.

I also have a son further away from that I have heard back from today that is outside Oxnard...so I'm worrying about him too.

Pretty devastating situation for so many people. Prayers going out.
