Hello,
So I got laid off in mid March up until last week, end of July. I filed for unemployment with a regular Michigan UI claim. I got denied benefits because I am in school and working part time. Right away I protested this determination saying that I was able to work full time because my classes were online and that school didn’t affect my working availability. After this, I applied for the PUA and got accepted. I got paid the minimum amount $160 + the additional $600 for every week up until I started working last week (total of 16 weeks). However, a couple days ago, my determination on the original UI claim got overturned and they accepted the claim. They then payed me for the entire 16 weeks. In this claim I was making $275 per week vs. $160 that I got paid for with the PUA claim. So just yesterday, they sent me a total of $4300, which is the result of $275 for 16 weeks. Is this correct or did they over pay me? I’m wondering this because I got paid $760 ($160 + $600) from the PUA for 16 weeks, and then an additional $4300 ($275 x 16 weeks) from the UI claim that just got accepted. Shouldn’t I only be getting paid the difference ($275-$160) $115 for 16 weeks which is $1840, and not $4300? Thank you

Someone with more knowledge will chime in, but to me, sounds like they overpaid you. So I wouldn't touch that money if I were you because they will ask for it back.

Yes they overpaid you by $1840.. i get $4400 at $275 x 16 weeks.. you got paid $160 x 16weeks is $2560. I'm surprised they didn't offset that and make an adjustment when they came back and paid you at the regular UI rate. put aside the $1840 because they will be issuing an over payment notice.
