In years past we have always looked forward to musical programs from various universities/colleges on PBS. But this year there was not a single one on our PBS station. Rather disappointing as seeing them has become sort of a tradition with us. Did anyone else notice that with their PBS stations?

I didn't notice the local L.A. show with the many world music groups but perhaps it did play. But shorter specials from all over the world have been playing.

I noticed that too. There is one coming up on Great Performances with the Vienna Philharmonic and the Vienna Ballet. I think it's New Year's weekend. I didn't see anything from the colleges or universities. I'm in the Northern California market, though, so it might be different for you. Might be worth checking it out.

The Great Performances would be the traditional New Year's concert from Vienna, featuring mostly Strauss compositions. Always festive. In Europe it is simulcast on live TV in the early afternoon on New Year's Day, but in the US it is delayed until the evening of 1/1.

My listing didn't mention Strauss or any specific composer but I think you're right as that's what I've seen in past years. I always enjoy it. I do have it set up to record but wasn't where I could check my listings. Thanks for filling the gap.
