Tennant and Tate were great. Which is why I didn't like Capaldi much. He and Jenna Coleman just didn't work well together at all.
Which is why she should have departed well before she did. I won't disagree with you that their chemistry wasn't right.. But I thought Capaldi with both Bill Potts and Nardole were excellent. (Pearl Mackie and Matt Lucas)
Oh, heck yes. After the dumpster fire we sat through (or tried to sit through, YMMV) the past few years, we all deserve some Tennant/Tate in our lives.
I'm a traditionalist. While I have some Tennant and Chris, I prefer the stuff before the 90s movie and watch that instead. For me, what it really comes down to......I don't like the modern stuff when they change the history.....as ironic as that statement may be.
I'm a bigger fan of the original run, as well. Sure it is cheap-looking and often feels claustrophobic and set-bound, but I can forgive the rubber monsters and bad chroma-key if the acting is good and the story is engaging. To me, a good script could be performed in front of a black curtain by good actors and I'd stick around. It felt as if Chris Chibnall thought the opposite---that when the script was weak (or just plain incomprehensible), just add a lot more CGI and location work and everything would work out. Which....apparently it did not.
Don't get me wrong---the original run had its fair share of stinker stories. All long-running shows will have those. And there are a good number of NuWho stories that I enjoyed. I just feel that in recent seasons, those in charge think that effects are more important than performance and/or storytelling and I totally disagree.

I didn't feel like Tennant and Tate clicked anymore. Yeah, the funny banter was there but the warmth behind it was lacking. Oddly, the only character that seemed to be spot on was Donna's mom.
I was really hoping for Wilf to be in this one. I was looking forward to seeing him again. I know he's in one of them.

I havn't gotten to watch the episode yet with it being Disney+ exclusive.. I didn't think that meant it wouldn't air on BBC America.
But from what I've heard, yeah.. They only got to film a scene or two with Bernard Cribbins before he passed.
DW airs on BBC in the UK like always, but in the rest of the world, it's exclusively on Disney+. Disney agreed to bankroll the show in exchange for that exclusivity. I'm not willing to pay for an entire streaming service just to see one show...but I was tempted. I figure bits and pieces will end up on YT and other clip-sharing sites soon enough.
I'm watching Dr. Who on Disney Plus. I only have the subscription for a few more weeks so I won't be able to see all of the series. I see it has continued to go woke, except for the joke where Dr. Who pulls out his ID and says "master of the universe" and the taxi cab drive says the id says "mistress" a nod to JW's doctor.
I really loved the 10th Doctor/Donna pairing - they were great together.
While I think the reunion, between an older Donna and Ten as Fourteen, is more entertaining than most of 13's tenure (not Jodie's fault, mostly poor writing), I'm not seeing the old chemistry regained, at least not completely. Which is only natural. These two individuals had a tremendous friendship across time and space, saved the universe together, and then he had to let her go and wipe her memory and relinquish her to normal life to keep her alive. And she became a wife, and, more importantly (apparently, to her), a mother. Donna doesn't have the same drive to escape her life; she is anchored to it by the love she feels for her child, who she fiercely loves. The Doctor/Donna bond is more like two old friends who are delighted to see each other and get together for a meal or a drink, but don't need to spend that much time together anymore, at least for her, that time in her life is in the past. (though I wonder if she will feel the same when Rose is older and out making her own life)
I did enjoy seeing Donna's mother, and Wilf, and Wilf, again (sadly, isn't for the last time?). The only problem with Rose is, I believe that the character was supposed to be 12, and she looked much older.

It was really bad. Even my daughter, who is a Who fanatic, hated this one. Probably one of the worst episodes ever. That said ...
Part 2 is better. Still not what I would call great, but not as craptacular as Part 1.
