Recently I've been bingeing on old comedies.

Some of my favorites are, of course, all the "black" comedies - comedy gold in any era IMO.

My other favorites are The Beverly Hillbillies, I Love Lucy, All In The Family, Maude, Three's Company, The Ropers, Welcome Back, Kotter, Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, Rhoda, Golden Girls, Hot in Cleveland. There are more. And The Nanny - OMG how could I forget The Nanny?!

Last night I almost died laughing at a bunch of old Seinfeld episodes. That show definitely holds up IMO.

M.A.S.H. has not held up well for me, though I was a fan back in the day.

Another one, sadly is Barney Miller. I adored Barney Miller (and follow Max Gail on social media). Strangely, it doesn't hold up for me. I will likely give it another try. The only black comedy that doesn't always hold up for me -- though sometimes it does -- is Sanford and Son, that makes me sad. I loved it back in the day.

What do you mean it hasnt held up? You dont think its funny anymore or do you mean that your perception of what was funny about it has changed, or something else?

What I'm thinking is that some of the lines fall flat for me now, whereas I used to think they were funny. I can't name a specific episode or line, just a general feeling.

Fraiser. The comedy is timeless.

Also much to my surprise, The Dick Van Dyke show holds up very well in today's times.

I've been watching two shows - the I Love Lucy show and Friends - both very different but I find that their humor has aged well.

Seinfeld is the tops. We've seen every episode dozens, if not hundreds of times, and they still make us laugh.

Barney Miller is one of my all time favorites. Max Gail was recently on General Hospital....strange seeing Wojo as an old man.
