It was an ABC series about the Vietnam War. It was one of those critically-acclaimed-but-poorly-rated series that probably would have flourished on HBO.

I love this series! I have not been able to find it to stream, but it is available on dvd from Netflix.

Oh, I LOVED China Beach. Yes, I think it would have a pretty good following if it was on air today.

Loved it too - Dana Delaney and Marge Helgenberger (sp?) As I recall they were strong female leads - unusual then and now.

Well MASH turned an average 18 month tour of duty into 11 years in a half hour format while China Beach, having to fill an hour with a more commonly known , Vietnam was not "The Forgotten War" after all, one year tour into a four year series.

Would the show have been able to survive Captain McMurphy rotating back to the states? I know Hawkeye and Hot Lips never did from Korea but by the end MASH was suffering from a we are so special bias to its writing.
