Past - Facts of Life, Silver Spoons, Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Little House on the Prairie, Bewitched, Saved By the Bell, Beverly Hills 90201, Melrose Place, Mork & Mindy, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, so many more!!
Present/very recent Past - Friends, Lost, Invasion (cancelled), Ghost Hunters, Criss Angel Mindfreak, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, Ed vs. Spence, Who's Line is it Anyway (both American & British versions). I'm addicted to the Weather Channel and HGTV!
Oh, don't get me started on HGTV. My friend has also gotten me into the food network. I also love the show "Globe Trekker" (used to be Lonely Planet) on the Travel Channel. Lonely Planet has a website with a forum I used to be addicted to...but there's a lot of mean people there...lots of flaming, ugly political debates, etc. This is a much nicer message board "fix"
ILoveNorthCarolina: The wife and I definitely have to agree with you about the TV programs (and a lot of movies) of today........to much violence, language (that is totally inappropriate) and se_ual crap (that is not needed).
The kids of today may like all of this, but it's obvious, they didn't grow up in our generation (50's-60's). This is why a lot of people say, "TV and movies of today is one of the reasons society is the way it is!"
Watching "The Thin Man" series with William Powell and Myrna Loy and their wire-haired terrier Asta. That show was filmed in 1933/1934 and it's amazing to watch it and realize they are already 72 years old. Yet they're so modern at the same time and very entertaining. They also have suggestive humor that later got erased from Hollywood films/shows. I find the way they speak and talk interesting, and looking at the gadgets around them, the lamps, furniture, appliances, etc. very interesting. Plus, the humor is still funny

Love this thread!
That's funny, I thought I was the only one who watched the weather channel ha
Nope, I have a friend who is OBSESSED with the weather channel. I call her the weather geek. I don't really watch it anymore because where I am in the sticks with my satellite TV they don't have my local forecast, so it's kinda pointless.
Now, if you start TAPING the weather channel, then you might have a problem
I have plenty but I would say The Honeymooners and the original Twilight Zone rank right at the top. The Red Skelton Show, Dean Martin Show, The Jackie Gleason Show and Ed Sullivan bring back great memories. I still can remember a lot of the skits. It's like another poster said. When we were young we watched what our parents watched. Or in the immortal words of my father. If you don't like whats on T.V. go read a book and learn something.
as a kid : Gilligans Isle, Garfield Goose (WGN)
as a teen : Dr.Who, Monty Python (PBS)
as an adult : Seinfeld, Friends (NBC)
middle age : Lost, Greys Anatomy (ABC)
Deadwood, Entourage (HBO)
When I'm old I'll check out what CBS has to offer.
