He's been on the talk show circuit talking about this, I'll give it a watch.

Default Derek on Netflix

Hubby and I just sat and laughed and cried through the first season of Derek on Netflix. What a sweet show! Sometimes funny, sometimes sweet, sometimes sad, always thoughtful.

Love and kindness are the most important things in life.

Anyone else watched this show? What did you think?

We've watched the first two episodes, and just loved it! All the descriptors you used are true.

I just discovered this show not long ago (I guess it must be new to Netflix.ca) and at first wasn't sure if I liked it. But after watching three episodes I came to the conclusion that it is quite good; a combination of weird, cute, and thoughtprovoking. Too bad there's only seven episodes to watch.

I watched all of the episodes just recently. I cried at the end because it was so sweet.

I wasn't sure I liked it at first either, but it grew on me a few episodes in. I think I had a hard time figuring out why the sex-obsessed character is there and I missed the real point of the show.

It does seem to be one of those shows that, if you don't like right off the bat, it sort of has to grow on you.

I just love the Hannah character. I loved it when she called that awful woman (the greedy lady that just wanted her mom's ring) a "gobby cow". You learn all kinds of new words and phrases watching shows like this.

I love it when Dougie talks about his haircut, too. So funny.

But mostly I just love how the show makes you stop and reassess your own life, really. Or at least it did for me, while it was also giving me giggles. I appreciate my own life a little more after having watched this show. I'm even thinking of volunteering in a retirement home.

So if you like Derek, we discovered a show called An Idiot Abroad... it's some of the same people (Ricky Gevais and the guy with the really bad hair who fixes things...).

Ricky Gervais.com The Website of Ricky Gervais... Obviously.

That is fun to watch, too.

I've been going back and watching Derek again. I just love the Derek character. That show is inspiring me to consider volunteer work in a retirement home. You can learn a lot about life from old people.

Season two is on Netflix now.

We just watched the first episode of the second season. Too many sexual jokes or situations for my taste, but other than that it's the same great silly and sweet show.

Until I saw this thread, I wasn't even aware of this show. I've now watched all 13 episodes that are available, and loved it. I just kept thinking what a talent Ricky Gervais has, thought he did an excellent job. I do think I'll have to now go back and watch again from the beginning because I was having a really hard time understanding what all the characters were saying due to the strong accents of some.
