My husband has been offered a position and we can choose to live in either Tulsa or Oklahoma City. We are moving from South Carolina. We have an 11 y.o (middle school) and I work in healthcare. We would love to live in a golf course community. Any suggestions.

Thx
Cbrownie

Battle Creek

New golf course community, Broken Arrow Public Schools, lots of Christian Private Schools in the area, close to shopping, easy access to the expressways, 45 miles to Ft Gibson Lake.........

Tulsa I think has some more prestigious golf courses. Broken Arrow, which is the largest suburb of Tulsa has some nice golf course communities.

Of course Tulsa has more prestigious courses, Southern Hills for one.....but the entry fees are a bit steep

Thanks for the replies! I have been looking at homes in Forest Ridge, Stanfords Landing, anyone heard anything negative about that development?

Nope, nice area and nice country club. Keep in mind you are on the outskirts of the city however so you will have to drive a bit for groceries, etc. Battle Creek (mentioned above) isn't as nice of a course but it is more in town.

Southern Hills has been the host to multiple PGA and OSGA tournaments but there is not much of a golf-course centered development.

Tulsa for sure. My husband is from the Tulsa area and I am from mid-state. We moved only 2 years ago as a transfer. We lived in Bixby for many years...which is just south of Tulsa...Memorial Drive runs straight into Bixby. It is a lovely town and great schools. They have a wonderful middle school and many new neighborhoods. You might look at White Hawk Golf course....or there are other courses not too far from there. Bixby is a nice safe community too. My oldest daughter attend elementary there until moving to Broken Arrow. B.A. is very large and has about 15 elementaries. I really preferred Bixby....they are more family oriented in the schools and less crime or problem kids in the schools. B.A. always had to have police sent over to break up little fights at the middle school (Oliver). From someone who lived there for many years and still has family and friends there....I would recommend Bixby.
Depending on where you work.....you could also look at Owasso about 15 min. north of Tulsa. It is really nice and everything is so new. Great schools and sports and you just might see Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood at the local ice cream place!!! My in-laws just built a new home up there. I believe the course up there is Bailey something? Can't think of it but you could Google it. Good luck!!!!!!!!

My choice would be Tulsa as well. I lived there in the mid 80s and fell in love with the area.

All Tulsa responses, big shocker considering this was posted on the Tulsa forum. Not bitter...I'm just saying. If you posted it on the OKC forum it would be all OKC responses. You can't go wrong either way really.
