Yes, I have been able to get some decent lightning shots from storms in the area for you, but so far, monsoon season 2023 has been horrible in terms of rainfall. We had not had any rainfall since May 18th. I think it was July 19th when we finally had rainfall and it was only 16 100ths of an inch. Up to today 7/26/2023 at 4:21pm, all the rain from 7/19/2023 to now has added up to near a half an inch. We have been under an excessive heat warning where the temperatures have been over 100 and near 110 degrees for weeks now. I think that may finally break in a few days. My weather app shows a couple of days at just 98 degrees coming up. Here in Arizona, monsoon season starts on 6/15 and runs till September 30th. The locals know that we usually start getting storms and meaningful rainfall around July 4th, and here it is approaching the end of July and we have only gotten a pitiful half inch! Don't get me wrong, we will take the half inch and pray to God for more in the future. It has been beyond disappointing and frustrating to see storms in all quadrants, and yet we get little if any rain. It looks like it is happening again this afternoon. Apparently, this is an El Nino year and that may have something to do with it. In an El Nino year, we will usually have a wet winter here, who knows???? I guess we will just have to wait and see if we will be blessed by some heavy and lasting rainfall any time soon!

Microburst over our place; 30 power poles down. NWS estimates 60 to 70mph winds. It blew our heavy gas grill over. Lost several palo verdes, roots and all! A real mess between Valencia and Bilby.

Wow, those microbursts are dangerous! Sorry about the damage and I hope no one was injured!

Yeah, there are certainly some downsides to monsoon season. I am complaining because we have gotten very little rain here in Green Valley and even the prickly pear are all shriveled! I am not looking for a microburst, just a good healthy rain showers!!! I really hate when you do get a good rain how all the weeds and grass goes wild, that is a true pain!!!

Someone once asked me if I would ever pay for sex. My reply: I would pay for rain, so I don't see why not. Joking, of course.

The monsoon was very late at our home in Central Mexico. Usually starts between June 5 and June 13. This year we didn't get a good rain until the first week of July.

Guessing Tucson's will be about a month late as well.

Violent storm in Tucson last night. At one point more than 55K homes without power, downed trees, golf size hail.

Here's great time lapse of storm from U of A.
