Does any one know if you can raise the flat roof on a burnt adobe home? Sine most burnt adobe homes have 8 foot ceilings, I would like to raise the roof so that I can have 10-12 foot ceilings.

I would think it's just a matter of money. Might be cheaper to move.

When we were looking at houses we toured a number of them. The 8 foot ceilings were just the beginning of a number of issues to address.

But like the other poster stated, it only takes money to fix. We used to live in one of the historic neighborhoods up in Phoenix and people would create cathedral ceilings in 100+ year old houses all the time. Wasn't uncommon for people to drop $400,000 on the house and then $200,000+ to modernize it.
