Newspapers are only a little bit better and above the ephemeral other medias. Think about the cheap paper that they're printed on. They're mostly designed for quick consumption and disposal. Sure, we're now more in the digital age, but they don't have the depth, research, and long-lasting use of say journals and professional publications.

I'm sticking with books and journals for my sources of information, with their footnotes, references, and other links back to source information. Those at least offer the chance to trace the information, unlike newspapers, websites, etc. Those are designed to stand the test of time, and tests of scrutiny.

It is a bit of a shame, really...historically, the papers were a wealth of 'immediate' information - whether mundane or world-changing. Digging into genealogy and looking some years back (100-200 years ago), there was tons of local information about individuals, local business, and just 'stuff' that was not processed by a modern-day revisionist eye. 100 years from now, it will be difficult to find much of anything worthwhile, I suspect - the papers have become banal and the electronic media is less permanent (most likely) as well as less 'fact-checked' as the old papers were.

I started it, I'll end my part. I've never heard or read the response of common sense and liberal/socialist in he same breath or sentence. I'm done, yeah, a hit and run, but we will get NOWHERE.
