Sounds like you expect way too much out of a smaller sized city to me. What do you expect? Everyone rolling around in brand new cars with $500K houses? Everyone to be a model citizen and to volunteer and do good for the city? Sheesh...give it a rest already.

By the way...Waco is pretty great logistically. Close to DFW, close to Austin and College Station, not too bad of a drive to San Antonio and the other parts of the hill country.

You really get to experience many parts of Texas easily from that location.

Seems more like he expects Waco to have a crime level normal for a small city

The most compelling point here is that those defending Waco on this thread don't actually live in Waco (or lived in Waco for four years as a student, which is quite a different experience).

IMO the most compelling point here is that time after time you continue to trash/slander Waco as if it's the worst place on earth. What is your beef with Waco and what is keeping you from moving away?

And I thought you lived in China Spring or Woodway, somewhere outside of Waco..? If that's the case a lot of us probably experienced Waco more in our years there than you ever experience out in the burbs.. I lived in a loft downtown for years and loved it.. Yes my room mates car got broken into one time when he parked it over night in an alley behind the building. Yes i was approached fairly often for money by homeless people by the fast food joints off 35. Yes there are lots of poor/"ghetto", older parts of town.. Did I ever feel unsafe? No. If you have a little bit of street smarts and live in a secure place, safety isn't an issue...

Like I said, four years of college is hardly representative of a real Waco experience. But then I can also see that compared to your Houston experience Waco probably does look pretty good

I like how you ignored most of my points and went back to the whole "college student" argument. Who cares why we were there. The point is, we have spent years of our lives in Waco and experienced it first hand. We are just as qualified to make judgement of the city as you are.
And wow.. You are a Houston basher now, too? For the record.. after being born in Houston, I grew up in a small town of 25,000 people that's consistently rated one of the safest cities in Texas. So no, Waco didn't look "pretty good" compared to my experience before that. I just appreciate a city with a little bit of grunge, that isn't completely sterile.

There is an enormous difference between living somewhere as a student with a temporary mindset and living somewhere as a professional. Totally different experiences.

And yes if I had to limit myself to a choice between Waco and Houston, Waco looks great.

I like Waco. Not as much as I like Tyler.
