If you're looking for a place with really good schools, don't go to Morristown.

In an earlier message you said you want to live in a town similar to where you are right now which has only 1500 people. Morristown is about 20 times bigger than that.

What prompted you to single out Morristown?

If you want a small town (1500'ish) with really good schools, check out Monterey or Baxter in Putnam County. Putnam County's schools are excellent, plus it's an open school system meaning your kids can go to any school in the county they want to. There are tons of trucking jobs around there since Averitt Express has its corporate HQ in Cookeville and a dozen other trucking companies with facilities in the area.

Baxter (pop 1500) is about an hour east of Nashville which is the fastest growing job market in the state. You might want to check it out.

I just remembered a patient of mine that said morristown was a nice place to live and was just inquiring.

Any areas around Chattanooga you might be able to suggest?

Take a look at Greeneville...population = 15,000. Nice small town in a rural setting. Strong sense of community and the amenities for such a small town are amazing...performing arts center, vibrant downtown, interesting history (once home to Andrew Johnson). Greeneville is also near Morristown.

Greeneville is a beautiful town. I would definitely recommend it over Morristown.

Good luck in your search. TN is a beautiful state. Keep asking more specific questions and the people here will help as much as they can. The people are great on this forum.

Look into Morristown. I just moved here from west knoxville (ca originally). Small town feel, it's spread out so you can feel like you are in the country, yet you have the shopping and job opportunities without commuting. Plus, it's absolutely gorgeous. The most surprising thing was how nice the people are. When was the last time you were actually surprised by how kind and friendly someone was? Spend a couple days here, you may be just as surprised and pleased as I was/am.

edit: not to mention you are surrounded by water and mountains, close but not too gatlinburg and knoxville should you need to go there.

For this you might want to start a new, separate thread in the Chattanooga forum. Good luck.

In rural TN you can watch the Meth lab guys busy, rather than the beavers.
