A couple I've heard lately that I'm surprised I didn't think of earlier as one of them is really sweet...

He/she hung the moon, as in "She thinks her daddy hung the moon." Not any higher praise.

Also, the sun shines on every dog sometimes.

My husband's family is from Soddy Daisy. My favorite saying from his Irish grandma that lived there is "truth is gonna stand when this world is on fire" Emphasis on Fire. She pronounced it more like "far".
Another phrase I didn't understand was "arsh potatoes" meaning Irish or white potatoes.

Man....I just came across this thread and love it.
I was born and raised in the Nashville area and have heard a lot of these all of my life.

How 'bout -
"Dew whut?" - when somebody needs you to repeat something.
"Now we're cookin' with Crisco (or gas)" - when a task is moving along nicely

My husband's kinfolk come from Alabama and I've heard a few from them that I hadn't heard growing up. I'm going to have to pay attention now and make notes. There has been many a time when he has cracked me up with a few of them.

"He's as welcome around here as a popcorn fart on the 4th of July". I heard these last 2 from my 1st sergeant in the Marine Corps who had grown up with Billy Carter in Plains, Georgia.

I live in Tennessee...born and raised here. My favorite Tennessee slang would have to be y'all. I use that word a lot.
