SB 2691/HB 2063

Interesting bill that if passed would essentially do the following:

ON MARCH 18, 2024, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 2691, AS AMENDED.

AMENDMENT #1 rewrites the bill to prohibit the intentional injection, release, or dispersion, by any means, of chemicals, chemical compounds, substances, or apparatus within the borders of this state into the atmosphere with the express purpose of affecting temperature, weather, or the intensity of the sunlight.

This relates to geoengineering activities aka Climate Engineering or Weather Modification.

Tennessee is not the first state to take this action.

Kudos to my adopted home state. Way to go! We have such sensible politicians overall in Tennessee. Not the ones from Nashville or Memphis, but most of them.

Yeah, with all the real problems we have in Tennessee, all we really need is for our politicians to be spending time and effort on chemtrails conspiracy.

The scientific term for "Chemtrails" is Stratospheric Aerosol Injection, A Solar Radiation Management (SRM) Geoengineering Approach. This science is well established and has existed for many decades and in many nations around the globe.

The Tennessee senators probably passed this bill 25 to 6 (party-line vote) because they are aware of this science.

You are trying to layer logic on top of a legislative reaction to conspiracy theories. There is no compelling reason for our legislature to be spending their time on something that is not happening when we have so many areas of need that should be getting their attention.

"Study of solar geoengineering is in the very early stages and the topic is (rightly) a very controversial area of climate policy because if it ever were tested at large scales or implemented it could involve physical risks and would raise a range of serious socio-political and ethical issues," said the Harvard research group. "We are confident that there is no currently active program to actually test or implement albedo modification outdoors."
