We have plentiful wildlife (deer/turkey/squirrels/owls/rabbits/armadillos/ground hogs) to keep us entertained. We have a campfire almost every night and look at the clear sky full of stars. we're surrounded by hills and enjoy being able to leave our vehicles and house unlocked with no issues. Neighbors look after each other here and we love the small town-community atmosphere.
I suppose it depends who in Perry County you talk to but Perry County is co side red the far western point of Middle Tennessee

Congratulations on your move!! Can’t beat wildlife for neighbors. They are entertaining.

Put up a songbird feeder where it’s convenient to look out a window, and watch their antics. Fledglings are so homely they’re cute:

We also put up Bluebird houses and Purple Martin houses (not the gords). I love my chatty Purple Martins

We lived in far Western Tennessee for almost 20 years (Union City, Obion, and Martin) and loved it. While the scenery was not great, very flat, the people were the most open and welcoming of any place we lived. We spent most of our time living in Obion where everybody knows everyone. It was nice being greeted when you walked in the bank and they asked about your kids by name, you knew ever police officer and they knew you.
The tornadoes are not worse there than any other place in the South. The hunting and fishing are great and it is not far to Land Between the Lakes if you want scenery.
Most everything one needed was available in Union City but we occasional shopped in Jackson and Paducah Ky as it was not that far away. Dyersburg was another option.
After living all over the SE and the Caribbean, how one enjoys where they live is a function of themselves. Any place can be great or miserable based upon the person.

You might wish to check tornado statistics on that statement.
