Concur with Normashirley..
Take Hwy 412 (TN Scenic Byway) from Columbia west all the way to Lexington...you've got Hohenwald, Linden, Lobelville, Parsons, Lexington along the way. And, cut south to Savannah..
I'll be relocating to Perry County next year

Slower pace at life in SW TN (the other towns you mentioned) compared to the already slow pace of NE TN (assuming you live near JC) is going to be a tough goal. It's about the same. The only change is you will be giving up the beauty of the mountains, not a good trade-off in my opinion.
