Today I found out that I will be spending about 5 months working in Onieda, Tennessee. I've never been to Tennessee before although I have lived in North Carolina. I'll be there from Mid December to the end of May. I am looking for any tips, tricks, or helpful bits of info I can find that might be something I need to know. Also, what are some must-do things or adventures that I just have to see while I am there?!?. I am from Montana so the cold doesn't scare me . So, what does a Montana girl need to know about living in Tennessee?

Thanks!

Onieda is very rural and secluded. Don't expect many options for dining or entertainment.

We passed thru that area a few times. Charit Falls is a nice hike and great views. El Rey Mexican had good Mexican food.

Awesome! Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I've grown up and lived in small towns all my life so I'm pretty used to having to drive a couple hours to shop or whatever. I am super excited for this new adventure. Anyone else have any suggestions for me? Anything on just living in Tennessee, in general!?

We have lived here for two years..in the town next to Oneida...Huntsville. It is pretty rural around here and there aren't a lot of dining or entertainment options to be had just like someone said above. We have a movie theatre, a few stores, a gym, hair amd nail places and a few medical offices. That is the one thing I do not like around here is the county has no hospital. It is supposed to reopen but no date set. The nearest one is not real close either so in an emergency you have EMS or if it's really critical, Life Star helicopter..weather permitting.

The people here are welcoming and it's a friendly place. 5 months will probably fly by and by the time you start getting used to things you'll be going somewhere else.

Good luck. ..are you renting a house. ..apt?

Hey, everyone. Just curious if anything has changed since the last update. I will be near Oneida for about four months...I think i will be stationed on the big south fork. Would like to know what are the best areas to grab a quick bit or get necessities
