I love the south!
When I relocated there in high school, we used to listen to the Vice-pricipal give the morning greeting on the loudspeaker.
That's when I learned the word "Pont-en-tome"
I had no idea what that was.

Then it all came together-
I want to tell you students, that at this Pont-en-tom we cannot allow this behavior.
OK, Point in time.
I love it!

In that same vein . . .

The principal of the junior high I went to was named Burchett. The school secretary would often page him over the not-very-good school intercom.

"Mr. Bur-chett, please come to the office. Mr. Bur-chett." (You can kind of get the same effect by pinching your nose and pronouncing Burchett slowly, as in Bird-chett). Of course, none of us kids giggled.

Many years ago i began dating a young lady from Silerton, Tennessee. BOONDOCKS! When I asked for directions to her house she said " I live on "FAR TAR Rd." My brain is racing trying to figure out where FAR TAR Rd. was. I thought I knew every back road in the county but had no idea where FAR TAR Rd. was. Turned out that she lived on FIRE TOWER Rd. but she was SO country that she had one helluva accent. She has been my wife for 37 years now and i STILL cant figure out what shes saying to me have the time. but I understand perfectly when she says I LOVE YOU !!

Very cute story, Lt. Dan. You are hearing the most important part.

DH says don't worry about the other stuff. You will hear it again and again and again! He has a skewed perspective.
