Wanted a great place to live and raise my 2 girls (6 and 4). My wife and I like Murfreesboro but she is afraid tornadoes, so she wants to go more east thinking there will be less of a chance of tornadoes. We currently live in Central FL where the schools are aweful. Schools are very important and hard to find without paying a bundle to be in a good school district.. Any advice on an area with very good schools and with homes costing less then $225000? I prefer not having to work 3 jobs and never seeing kids. I can transfer to almost anywhere and make 50000. Any insight on any area would be helpful. I also have a boat for our family fun, so I must be near water. Looking forward to moving out of Central FL once and for all.

Hello, welcome to the forum. You can look back through several pages of this TN forum and find threads and posts from LaruaC, she has posted some really great and informative posts, and links for ways to do research about a new place to live that maybe very beneficial to you in your search.
As far as what area to look at where you can have water, less chance of a tornado, and good school systems, my suggestion would be East. Oak Ridge and Knoxville are good but as far as Knoxville, some of the schools are hit and miss, a bit crowded and the traffic is crazy, but that is all perspective, you may not find it bad at all. As far as housing, again, go east. I can't say for Knoxville off the top of my head but here in the Tri-Cities, you can find lots of house for 200k or less. Washington County and Kingsport City has great schools. I moved from South Fl myself for the same reasons. We LOVE it here!
Be sure to scroll through these post as there is lots of great information about both towns you are asking about.
Hope this helps!
