hey everyone! i will be coming down to the tampa bay area for a couple weeks and wanted to know if there are any cheap places to stay for that amount of time? my husband and i will be coming down to scope out neighborhoods so we'll be traveling all over and location is not an issue as long as its within 30 minutes from tampa also, we got a pretty good feel of the areas we might be interested in but do you have any suggestions of ones to avoid??? and i know realtors cant tell you what areas are good vs bad but we dont want to waste our time looking at houses in areas that would never work, are there realtors down there that will be honest with us?? thanks!

what are you looking for in an area? do you prefer suburbs or city life? where will you be commuting too?

I (along with most on here) agree that the citrus park, carrollwood, odessa, lutz, northdale areas are decent.

thanks Tim, i am looking for a family friendly area, with decent schools and low violent crime. i would prefer somewhere with stuff to do like a bowling alley or shopping, dining...etc. my husband will be working for the hillsborough police dept so somewhere within a half hour from there will be nice, i will be going to school at hcc as well.

Hillsborough is big, he could be anywhere!

That would mean the suburbs though, not the city. The areas I mentioned are where I would suggest looking. there arent a whole bunch of hotels in the area though. I would probably recomend staying around the airport since its pretty centrally located and generally not a bad area.

There is an extended stay place on Hillsborough Ave over by the airport, it would be a cheap and safe place to stay. I think it's called Extended Stay America or something like that.
