Hi,

Im young married professional moving to syracuse this summer. Need some advice on the best place to get an apartment (safety, and proximity to parks/trails) Doesnt necessarily have to be within the city itself, but idealy no more than 30 mins commute.

Thanks all.

Nob Hill is an older complex a little south of the city, but it's got a GREAT commute because most of the traffic comes from the north. You can be in downtown in 10 mins or less, generally.

Plus it is right next to a golf course, and there are plenty of picnic tables, BBQ grills, a pool and a park for the kids scattered around the complex. Right up the road is a state park called Clark Reservation with some beautiful stone formations and nice trails to hike.

Good choice....There are some nice apartments in the Liverpool area, which has Onondaga Lake Park and Longbranch Park in the area. It is north of Syracuse. So, you will get some traffic, but the traffic here really isn't too bad.

Here are some good guides for apartments in the area:
Syracuse Apartments for Rent | Syracuse Apartment Finder

Longley Jones Management Corp. - Apartments - - -

http://www.communitysite.com/Maplewood/index.htm (close to parks on the city's East Side)

This should help you decide in terms of proximity to parks and trails as well:
Onondaga County Parks :: Syracuse, NY

City of Syracuse - Department of Parks, Recreation & Youth Programs

Central Region - NYS Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation

Town Of DeWitt - Onondaga County, New York. Established Since 1835.

Parks & Rec.

Town Of Camillus, New York. Phone: (315) 488-1335

Not.even.legal. Frankly put- I don't think this is the truth.

I apologize for sounding so rude but... are you in the right forum? Your other post referenced your using Cable One... but that communications/entertainment provider doesn't even service this area. You mention seeing things here that I have NEVER observed, in 27 years of living here.

y for many businesses, and have been accosted many times,in many of the areas in
and around Syracuse.I have taught on University Hill, and in the Colleges, and its very
difficult to escape any of the fears, which are in your replies that crime doesnt exist.
Just wondering!! A Local Boy,from the Finger Lakes>

"...any of these things." ???

If by "any of these things," you mean seeing tattooed and body pierced (body, not ears) six-year olds, then again... my answer is no.

*Nowhere*, have I ever said that crime doesn't exist. If you continue to insist that I have, could you please point out where I have done so?

You moved here from L.I. and you think the people HERE are rude??? Tattooed 6 year olds??? First graders with tongue rings??? Sorry, I'm calling BS. We don't need folks coming here and posting this silly stuff, I suggest that if you enjoy that kind of thing stick to the L.I. forums, which I find is full of folks like you.
