So i am def looking for liberal leaning town, (would love an academic liberal leaning atmosphere, not liberal leaning "just" bc of hipsters or diversity)

Need excellent school system. Would like an area that has specialty high schools (for example....something like bergen academies in hackensack).

Need a town with a cultured population.....cultural activities....... maybe a good youth theater, foreign film center (for example)....art museums.......as opposed to say um ....truck and tractor pull, wear your maga hat. Sorry i needed some comic relief.....

Open to all of upstate ny.....
I’d say within the area, look first at Jamesville-DeWitt due to having a big University influence in terms of residents and proximity, while being a high quality district with a decent degree of cultural diversity.

^Just to add, if you went with J-D, you have a youth theater nearby in East Syracuse and Manlius has a small movie theater that plays classic/independent films. https://www.sctkids.com/

https://www.manliuscinema.com/

There are plenty of arts based venues/events/museums in the area as well. https://www.syracusearts.net/

https://www.cnyarts.org/

Now if you want a specialty School, you do have some programs in the Syracuse City SD like the Latin School, the previously mentioned Institute of Technology at Central and the International Baccalaureate program at Corcoran High, among others. As mentioned, within the city, the East Side puts you near Syracuse University, SUNY-ESF, SUNY Upstate Medical and Le Moyne College.

As for other areas, I’d say a town like Brighton outside of Rochester, Amherst outside of Buffalo(particularly the Amherst Central and Williamsville SDs), Colonie in between Albany-Schenectady-Troy, Niskayuna next to Schenectady, Vestal in the Binghamton area, New Hartford next to Utica and Ithaca(which is an Enlarged city SD that covers suburban and rural areas outside of the city). All of these towns have some degree of a college/university influence and are near venues in the main city or nearby towns. All have highly regarded schools too.

There are other places that could also work(Clinton, Hyde Park, etc.), but those are some that come to mind right away.

^In terms of other places, you also have small college towns like Hamilton(Colgate University), Aurora(Wells College), Annandale/Red Hook(Bard College) and even SUNY towns like Brockport, Geneseo, Oswego, Cortland, etc. that would have some of the things you are looking for.

Places like Clinton(Hamilton College) and Brockport offer their own small college town scene, while also being suburbs/exurbs of bigger cities(Utica and Rochester, respectively). Even the others mentioned are within a reasonable drive to a bigger city as well, if not in between a couple/few cities.

Also, just to add, this high school program should be starting soon within the Syracuse city SD at the ITC campus just south of Downtown: https://www.syracusecityschools.com/steam

It will be open to students from around the county, with I believe a preference towards students that live within the city.
