I haven't figured out if I like the design yet. I guess I'll know whether I do or not in about 14 months.
My rule for new construction architecture for Syracuse is that if I can't image the new building in Austin, Texas or Charlotte, North Carolina, or Paris, France or Dubai then it isn't attractive enough or good enough for Syracuse.

To be honest, who cares if the building would fit in those areas. It is great that they are expanding and it is a source of potential innovation for the area. That is more important than the building itself and from what the initial look of the building, it doesn't look bad.

Who cares is exactly the attitude of people who place funtion over form and leads to ugly looking cities wealthy educated people don't want to live in.
Who wants to live a random Russian former Soviet city
filled with only brutalist Soviet style architecture when they live in Paris or Dubai? Beauty matters and the fact that you say who cares actually makes my point. People in the Syracuse area should care. Syracuse is being supported by architecture from over 100 years ago to impress people and to look nice.
Why not continue the tradition of beautiful architecture that we had almost 100 years ago?
