12) I'd buy the land in northern Dewitt and northern Manlius townships between the Cicero swamp and Minoa that is unused today. I'd make the land there shovel ready just in case a future crisis forces the US to establish all manufacturing done in China today to come back here for national security reasons. It is at the crossroads of the new I-81 and Thruway, it is flat and in a location with the infrastructure there to build multiple manufacturing plants and business parks.
There are homes/properties, churches and some industry already in that area. There may be some land available, but much of it is spoken for. There is a business park right off of Northern Boulevard near 481(Beacon North).
Another way to brand the Syracuse Area or the Syracuse - Utica - Rome metropolitan Areas or CNY...could be
"Syracuse, where the Appalachian mountains and Adrondack mountains, and the Great Lakes meet."
Syracuse's location is what makes it unique among Great Lake Cities. No other metropolitan area has the Finger Lakes, a Great Lake, Appalachian mountains and the Adirondack mountains within an hour or two hour drive.
Every great city has public lookout places for tourists to view the city from a great height.
Syracuse should have a public lookout point from the back of the parking lot of the Zoo where it over looks downtown. Clear a few trees, place brick stone on a path, build an attractive fence, place benches there and then build a waterfall similar to the one on castle hill in Nice, France.
Move the sewer treatment plant from the lakefront in the city of Syracuse to John Glen Blvd and farrel road in Geddes.
On the other side of the train tracks on the lakefront, fill in part of Onondaga Lake and create a beach with sand and a board walk. Then build condos on the boardwalk overlooking the lake.
I don't think people will want to swim in a lake that has treated sewage going into it. That's why moving the sewage treatment plant has to happen first before a Beach is built. Onondaga lake park could have a small beach too. Having a Beach within the city would be an attraction compared to Liverpool.
