Anybody want to share their favorite day trips from Syracuse? (since one of Syracuse's selling points is "location, location, location"...) Trips where you can start out say by 8 a.m. and then be home by supper time, but have enough time to stop and do things (not just drive).
Looking for ideas...
I like doing the Cayuga wine trail (west side of the lake) because some of my favorite wineries are there (Goose Watch, Knapp). The scenery is not so spectacular as going down Seneca Lake though. (I suppose you could fit in Seneca Lake or even Watkins Glen if you weren't planning on stopping to shop anywhere.) If you go to the Cayuga wine trail, stop at Knapp for lunch and ask for the seats under the pergola. Unlike some winery eateries, the food at Knapp really IS good.
lol - I don't have time for a full reply now but... the point of day trips, for us, is to NOT be home by dinner time! We conjure up "getting home late" to stop somewhere new for dinner. :P
One word.....Skaneateles. Shopping, dining, parks, a boat ride, hit Creekside books, and a vineyard down the side of the lake. Tim's Pumpkin Patch isn't far either for pumpkins and baked goods.
Gotta support my college town here - how bout Oswego?
Hang out on the lake, take a walk at Breitbeck Park, grab a bite to eat at Rudy's and Bev's in time for the sunset...
