The hot Crosstrek started the year hot, and in February, the subcompact SUV gets red hot. The 2023 Crosstrek was SOA's overall sales leader again. In addition, Crosstrek was the top performer by volume, achieving its best February ever with 14,816 vehicle sales, surpassing its previous record set in February 2022 (14,476).
The Crosstrek also had a record month in January to start the year. The hot Crosstrek is up 14.7 percent for the first two months of the year, the most of any Subaru nameplate.

The Impreza family of Subaru Vehicles (Impreza, Crosstrek, Forester) was 59.92% of last month sales.
The Legacy family of Subaru Vehicles (Legacy, Outback, Ascent) was 32.85% of sales.
The Performance family of Subaru Vehicles (WRX, BRZ and Solterra) was 7.24% of sales.
It is my sincere hope (probably won't happen) that they will leave the Impreza family alone and just upconvert the Legacy family to hybrids using Toyota technology.

That makes perfect sense, considering that times are tough with people losing buying power to inflation, or even being laid off. The Crosstrek is the cheapest Subaru SUV, then the Forester, and the Outback is the most expensive. The Ascent and Soltera cost more but no one wants those. The sedans/hatches like the Legacy have never been very popular.

For model year 2024 the Legacy will be strictly a sedan and the Impreza will be strictly a hatchback. Also the Impreza will have the option of a 2.5 liter 182 hp engine. The 2024 are already under production and will be available this summer
$22,995 152 hp 2024 Impreza Base
$24,995 152 hp 2024 Crosstrek Base
$24,995 152 hp 2024 Impreza Sport
$26,145 152 hp 2024 Crosstrek Premium
$27,885 182 hp 2024 Impreza RS
$28,995 182 hp 2024 Crosstrek Sport
$30,895 182 hp 2024 Crosstrek Limited
In the US Crosstreks sell at 5 times the rate of Imprezas despite being identical in size. But the executives decided to keep the Impreza as an option partly as a nod to their budget vehicle roots stretching back to the 1970s. Although the Imprezsa is only $2000 less expensive than the Crosstrek, it is perceived as keeping a more affordable entry level Subaru available to the public.
The Legacy was Subaru's original vehicle when they began to manufacture vehicles in the United States in 1989, Last year the Outback outsold the Legacy at 6.5 times the rate.

$27,195 182 hp 2024 Legacy Premium
$28,895 182 hp 2024 Outback
The Legacy is a well deisgned sedan with AWD at a good price, but it is simply destroyed by the Toyota Camry, the Honda Accord and the Nissan Altima.
On average one of Subaru's 630 dealerships sells only 3 Legacy sedans and 4 Imprezas and 3 sport cars (WRX or BRZ) per month. That is out of an average of 73.6 vehicles per month.
