How is everyone handling the extreme heat this week in South Carolina? Me? I have not been outside since last Friday, but I am going out tomorrow in the morning. Not working anymore has it's advantages. I do not do well in heat.

Interestingly, I believe I heard somewhere that we had not been above 100 in seven years. Does that sound right?

We’re good because I’ll take heat over cold any day. We walk our two miles at about 6 am and then in and out quickly to a/c buildings. We have ceiling fans in every room so we can keep the thermostat at about 77.

Cute picture above. And let’s all say a little prayer of gratitude to Willis Carrier.

I’m almost positive they said it’s the first time in 2 years. No way it goes as long as 7 years and it not see triple digits in Columbia!

Not much coastal sea breeze going on, for sure. But I’d rather be talking about an imaginary knife to cut the humidity in summer than to have to use a real shovel to shovel snow in winter.

Give me a South Carolina winter over a South Carolina summer. I can't remember ever having to shovel snow to get out of the driveway in the 52 years I've lived here

I’m in Montana this week. So the heat in SC isn’t bothering me at all. Foot of snow yesterday on Big Mountain.

Weather channel says it is currently 97 here with a feel like temp of 110, SMH. Hotter weather next week, they say. Stay hydrated, y'all

Wish I had an AC system that wasn't over 20 years old on my house. It was having trouble with the temps even a month ago, running 24 hours a day and still not even keeping the house as cool as I had it set to. I woke up a bit ago to go to work, at 9PM, only to see that it was 90/"feels like 99" outside, and 80 inside the house (with the AC set to 73). And since the AC is running all day and night, that means I've got some $300 electric bills on the way (my bills jump from $180~ in Winter and Spring to $300 in the Summer due to this old, inefficient AC).

Sigh... I can't wait to move eventually. Wish it could be out-of-state and somewhere with better temps, but even a new house with a newer AC unit will be nice.

South Carolina winters are northern Falls. I’ll take winter anytime. It’s never extreme like our summers.
