They should have never closed it in the first place. That is a very stable shopping center with Kohls, Ross, ulta, Lowes being the tenants.

I do not know if Old Navy's initial Greenwood Commons store was a random store closing or among a round of stores closing.

The old Kmart building next to the mall is still vacant. I'm puzzled why that great location at 72 and 25 hasn't been filled. I thought that would be a great location for something like a Hamricks/Bargain Hunt combo like they did in the empty Kmart in Easley. I'm certain they would love to get a national chain they don't already have like Home Depot or Target there as well.

Default Kmart #7058, 254 Bypass 72 Northwest, Greenwood, South Carolina 29649-1509

Kmart #7058 has been vacant for seventeen months. The location is bad for getting in and out.

Nah. Kmart survived there for decades and there are other businesses surviving there. There are entrances on 72 and 25. Other than the mall that's one of the most visible locations for retail at that crossroads.

The location is great indeed. It is bad for making left turns in and out.

If the parcel adjacent on Montague Avenue was acquired, a full access signalized intersection with Greenwood Mall could be realized. A redevelopment of the entire site would be necessary.

I think the slow growth in Greenwood and in that area is a roadblock for seeing more business development. Greenwood has seen a growth of just over 1,000 people since 2000 and the county has seen growth of ~4,000 people during that time. In contrast, Easley has seen growth over 3,000 people with Pickens County growing by 12,000 people since 2000. The northeast corner of Anderson county adjacent to Easley (Powdersville area) is also seeing a lot of rapid growth.
