We are going down in February to look for a house in the Loris area.
The folks here have been very helpful answering our questions.
I am looking for someone who LIVES in the Loris area.
We are looking at homes ranging from 125k to 150k. Would like to know from someone in Loris area how much they pay for property taxes.
We are 64 and will be retired when we move. I know Horry County controls all the finances but it would be nice to talk to someone who lives in the Loris area.
Any help would be great.
I know I'm thick in the head but that's just the way this old mind works.

Loris, South Carolina (SC) Detailed Profile - relocation, real estate, travel, jobs, hospitals, schools, crime, news, sex offenders

I live in Conway with a $200,000 house on over an acre and my taxes are $600 a year. I'm also outside city limits and under 65.

There's a house in Loris listed for $130,000 and the taxes are $1500 but then there's another for $145,000 and the taxes are $456. It really depends on where in Loris, condition and age of the house. I've seen some with taxes as low as $300.

I live about 10 miles to the east of Loris taxes this year dropped to $500 yr ,my brother lives in Loris just south of the city limit he has a new house valued @175k his taxes are just under $700 yr. The tax rate on 150k owner occupied primary residence should fall in this range. Homes used as second or vacation homes are taxed at a higher rate. Also, once you reach age 65 the rate drops even lower! Good luck , hope this helps.
