Hi,
Just wondered if I could get some input on the friendliness of southerners. I have heard it said that they are friendly to a point, and that beyond the common pleasantries it is hard to make friends. I say this because I have many good friends up here and would love to take them all with me , and I am a little concerned about how difficult it may be to develop friendships there.
Thanks for the input!

People are people, no matter where you go. There will be some who are nice, and some who are not as nice.

My observation on my new area is that folks are friendly. I have not had any trouble making friends, but I am extremely outgoing.

I haven't had any trouble making friends either but I'm pretty outgoing. It's always easier if you have kids...making contact through your kids always works or if you belong to a church or even if you walk or jog through your neighborhood...it's a great way to meet people.
In general, I've found the southerners to be much more friendly than the people in NY or maybe they just take more time to get to know you here...not so hurried.

I agree with Evey, but for me I'm a very outgoing person so anyone I see or meet I love to say hi to just for starters. Some people just look at you funny and keep on walking, but there are very nice people around here just a few grumpy one's
