Can anyone suggest a independent auto repair shop in Seattle, prefer South Seattle but if its north or East side thats OK too.

Recently quit 2 places.

1. Firestone in Burien, recommends services I don't need and know its fishy. Leaky shocks, and a belt that did did not need replacing.

2. Bellevue Nissan- They had a service coupon for 60 bucks off any repair 300-400 dollars. They took it back for a recycle fee of almost that amount for recycling my used CVT oil. Never got charged that at Younker Nissan when I replaced my CVT fluid there before. I asked about it and they said it was normal fee. I just went with it since I made the drive and appt and it was a wash anyway money wise. They also estimate too much labor time for another service. No trust in this place at all.

When you find a good, honest mechanic, stick with them. I had one for over 30 years, but he had a stroke and now is limited in his ability with only one employee helping, and is way out in Woodinville. I also had good luck with the Firestone in Redmond, but the people there have changed and I haven't used them except for tires in the last few years. Several of my neighbors have been very happy with Plateau Motors in Sammamish, sort of behind McDonalds.

Thanks for the suggestions. After my awful Bellevue Nissan experience, I will tread much more carefully with auto repair shops. Getting hosed in these tough economic times is painful.
