We're planning on relocating out that way from the upper Midwest sometime soon.

I know the rental market is pretty hot out that way, so rentals will come and go at lightning speeds. Are there any good online places to look for possible rentals (houses/townhomes/duplex) other than craigslist?

It seems that about 95% of what I'm finding is through rental agencies, and not private owners. Is this normal out there?

Zillow has pretty much the same rental listings as Craigslist, but has a better interface for seeing what's available where. Some of Zillow's listings can be out of date, since they're not the primary lister.

I like those new apodments in Seattle, they're under $900, tiny but all I would need, seems they are booked up though.

They tend to fill up when the academic year begins at the colleges. Still, you can Google around and see if there are any slots available. There are some on Cap. Hill, some near the Internat'l District, and the U District.

The City Council put additional requirements on apodments and micro-apartments, in response to neighborhood complaints about parking. The only ones being built now are ones that were already in the pipeline.

Will you have a job or jobs? Work from home? Anywhere outside the Seattle commute bubble will be less "hot" and more affordable, but jobs will be harder to find.

In many of the smaller cities (Port Angeles, Mount Vernon, Centralia, Aberdeen/Hoquiam, etc.), many rental listings are only listed on local property manager and real estate sites. In more rural areas, rentals can be hard to find, period.
