Several months ago, I noticed several electric car chargers behind Crossroads Mall in Bellevue (close to the rock climbing gym). How common are these charging stations in the Seattle area? Does anyone know of someone who own an electric car here and are they happy with their purchase?

If gas prices go to $5 a gallon, I am thinking of buying a higher mileage car, but probably not an electric car. Still curious.

They're available at Bellevue Square as well. In fact, there's a special section strictly for Tesla owners. Only in Bellevue...

The transit center in Issaquah has some as well.

I've seen them in a couple other locations, but cannot remember at the moment.

I have no doubt that they'll start springing up in even more locations. I moved back to Bellevue from Houston in August of last year and saw the Nissan Leaf for the first time. They are everywhere now!

People with electric vehicles are still complaining that there are no charging stations for them. The upscale shopping centers have made the investment, but most of the corporate parking garages have not, so for commuters you still must live within range or risk running out on the way home. The SUV is still king here, I live on the eastside and work in Seattle
and have seen very few electric vehicles.

In a week or so the Toyota Prius C will be available for under $19,000 and get 52 mpg. They will be a great alternative to all electric.

I know where I work in Everett there's a few people who drive electric cars but the company has made no comment about any future infrastructure investment in it, because it's all overhead for them. I highly doubt they'll jump at it unless there's a fat juicy government subsidy in the works for them, then they'll do the bare bones minimum to get it.

Where I live locally, the city government said they're going to put in 5 charging stations in the shopping area and another 10 in the park and ride. It's caused a huge uproar because people don't want their tax dollars going to subsidize other peoples' inflated sense of self-worth and annoyingly sanctimonious environmentalism-rooted sense of self-righteousness.

e-vehicle penetration will remain a niche market in 99% of the nation and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

That's odd. I don't want my tax dollars going to subsidize Exxon's inflated pocketbook. But we give oil companies 4 billion dollars despite them making record profits. I guess I find that more annoying than electric car owners.

But yeah, a lot of employers have charging stations. Google Kirkland and Amazon, and I'm sure others.

There are chargers at Burlington outlet mall. Saw a Chevy Volt in Redmond, so presumably there is a charging station in/near there.

There's probably some connection to the new Tesla Store inside the mall
