I've come across a few threads here on CD claiming "The further north you go, the more southern it gets" or something to that effect. Do you find this to be true, and more to the point how does this relate to the Bradenton, Sarasota, Venice area ?

There's an interesting Florida County map made up by a poster here that quite a few in the main Florida forum seem to agree with. I'll link it below... (third post down) It has the BSV area as all or mostly 'northern'. As residents of BSV do you agree with this and if so what exactly is meant by 'northern' ? Being northerners ourselves currently living in a 'southern area' of Florida we're not finding it to be a good match, and are curious if BSV would be a better match overall.

I've lived in Atlanta, the suburbs of Atlanta, and the exburbs of Atlanta, and in the early 70's in B'Ham Alabama.

I've lived on & off in FLA, & this forum area, for 40 years...since college.

This forum area is not Southern at all.

I'd say Ocala is the start of where you'll start seeing Southern culture, & hear Southern accents...particularly when you get out of the city, & into the rural areas.

You might not hear a heavy Southern drawl until you get near I-10. I hear that lot in the exburbs of Jacksonville for sure.
